STUDENT VACCINATION OPPORTUNITY

Hello Konawaena Families!

With the Pfizer vaccine now available to everyone 12 years and older, this vaccination opportunity is being made available to all HIDOE West Hawaii Complex Area public schools.  The complex area is working with Pfizer vaccine providers to expedite and expand access to the vaccine for our students and their families, DOE staff, and community members.

Receiving the vaccine is voluntary. Please complete the interest survey to get on the verified master list that is shared with our providers for scheduling purposes.  You will be contacted with an appointment time.  Be sure to save the dates now!  Times will be emailed to you.

HIDOE Vaccine for Students Interest survey:  Please sign up for a vaccine appointment.  You must sign up via the following link, please be sure to select the appropriate site (Konawaena High).

Given the limited number of doses available (300 at Konawaena I believe), those that register will be given priority in the following order:

  1. Students 12+ (student ID recommended) and their Families
  2. HIDOE Staff Employees
  3. Community members (again, students will take priority)

Vaccination #, Location and Dates

Kohala High Tuesday May 25 and Tuesday June 15 (Provider: Queens NHCH)

Honokaa High Wednesday May 26 and Wednesday June 16   (Provider: Queens NHCH)

Kealakehe High Wednesday June 2 and Wednesday June 23   (Provider: Safeway)

Konawaena High Wednesday May 26 and Wednesday June 16 (Provider: Safeway)

Waikoloa School June 7 and June 28 (Provider: KTA)

The Pfizer vaccine will be administered in 2 doses 21 days apart.  You must come for both doses at the school location you request. If a parent cannot attend with their child, you must send the student with a signed consent form which will be sent to you once you sign up for an appointment.

Each vaccination site will have its own method for registration for first and second doses. However, all sites are tracking who will need an email invitation for the second dose based on first dose administration. As the date for each dose draws closer, you should receive an email invitation for the dose with instructions. Please do not share your link with others as the seat offered is only for you and/or your family. Please be sure to double check your entries for accuracy to ensure your responses and contact information are captured correctly.  You will be contacted with more information via email so please be sure to enter that correctly.

You should receive your second dose from the same location where you received your first dose. If you don’t get an email invite at least five days prior to the 21-day mark for the second dose, please contact Kelly.Stern@k12.hi.us

Mahalo for your continued support!
